Yep,

I know it's been done, BUT, at the Texas Rally we were shown the $0. 99 part that keeps it all together when the plate is taken out. Not sure about anyone else but I'm not gonna trust a simple little pin to keep my $2000 pump in check. The #10 is all I need. Until something better comes out that is. :D :D

do you go to Gerhardts? I ended up going to one around here.

Don~

what kinda numbers did you lay down if you went?

Bad Idea

Don't do it!

You can break stuff that way.

Besides, why would you?

You need something there to act as a curb.

Nope, had to work this weekend. I was tempted to call in sick but I figured I had to work out my last two weeks. Besides, the clutch is slipping so bad I wouldn't ahve put down some very good numbers.

Cummnzpowr,

Considering your pump, you are at a VERY low risk of parts breakage. Here's why.

The only time your STOP PIN is at risk is at full rack travel. Your pump won't deliver full rack travel very often if ever. Contrary to popular belief, the rack doesn't bottom out each time your foot hits the floor. Your AFC housing will limit rack travel on the bottom end, and your governor flyweights will pull the rack back on the top end.

Now that I have my 160 HP pump out on the table where I can work with it, I've learned a lot more. I went so far as to completely shim my governor flyweights (no defueling after idle) and removed my high idle screw. Even with this VERY extreme setting, full rack travel is not possible due to the linkage system acting on the rack after about 1100 rpm. Your only danger would be a full throttle stomp from an idle with NO afc housing intact.

Now my 215 HP pump is entirely different. Setting it up the same way as my old 160 pump caused immediate full rack travel at ALL RPMs (with sufficient boost) and a camplate is quite necessary now!

Now, I'm not telling to go remove your camplate. I'm just trying to share some experiences that I've learned along the way and educate you instead of spreading fears.

My one-way ticket is bought so I can go to Willis, TX..... anyone else want to go? :D

After reading that I guess we can no longer really worry about pushing the stock plate forward or loosing the plate altogether. Watch the EGT's and keep up with boost or soot will ensue.
