Wisconsin Area member with trailer?

Ok... Help me out here. I am getting a new International 4300 flatbed, (no trailer) that is rated at 25,500 gvwr. I will be plating it for under 26,000lbs. I do know for a fact that a CDL is not required for air brakes under 26,000 lbs, as long as not hauling hazmat. What I am having trouble finding is the proof. Can anyone provide a link to this specific info. I just want to have it printed up in the cab in case of a misinformed officer. (I am commercial, and have a med card, authority and all... . I have been doing this for some time with my 3500. )

no cdl

A CDL is not required nationwide under 26,000 lbs. as long as the truck and trailer combined are not rated over 26,000 lbs.

Just get a copy of "Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations" pocket handbook at a local truck stop. Refer to paragraph 383. 5 Commercial Motor Vehicle definitions. Around page 64, I think. :-{}

When I was in that end of the industry... over 5 years ago I don't remember seeing air brakes on anything under 26k gvw.

I have a CDL A,im pretty sure you need a CDL C at the minimum to run air brakes,unless its for recreational use. I never seen a truck under 26K with air brakes,they run juice brakes so they can hire drivers without CDL's.

NO arguments please

Trust me, you don't need a cdl, and I have a new 2003 NON CDL International 4300 with air. All I am looking for is links where it states this directly. In the CDL manual, the truck does not fall under any CDL categories. I have seen a link that states directly that air brakes alone do not constitute a need for CDL. Just cant find it again.

I used to drive bottled water trucks that had air brakes and were 26,000 GVW. All we needed was a med card and a short training class on air brakes.
