Was heading down to TX today and happened upon an open stretch of turnpike.

Shoot, after paying to run on this stretch of OK turnpike, I decided to check to see if the computer would shut down at about 100 (like a Chevy).

Went to a 102 with a head wind and still had lot's left - gotta love that Gearvendors OD.

I think the Chevys stop at about 97-98.

Some dude in a Volvo went to sleep and crossed the median and the west bound lane on 412 and wound up in the ditch. Car looked intact with lots of help running his way.

On the dynojet I hit 122 MPH, not sure how accurate that is though, guessing there are alot of variables ????

I think the cummins is only governed in RPMs. Unlike my commercail truck tractor engine Detroit 60 Series that would not exceed 63 MPH unless I was going downhill.

Speed limiter

The speed limiter has been used in the Cummins ECM only in the Y2K trucks. Also a batch of early ETH's have had a speed limiter.

All other trucks use only the governed engine speed ( Under load 3. 2K). All the GM trucks have the speed limiter set to 96 Mph.

MARCO!!,, How ya been?? Those ECm's still goin' along down the pathway of finding themselves in other peoples trucks??

Good to hear from you again.

My truck makes it to 110MPH with A/C on and 111MPH with A/C off. That's all she wrote,, no faster, my truck is governed with RPM only. (110MPH is about 3,200-,3,400RPM)

Mine has a limiter

My ETH built in Feb 2001 has a speed limiter. With DD2s and CPC box the fuel cutback is dramatic once I hit 112-115mph. I could easily do 116-118 stock and now that I'm BOMBed a bit, I have not gained 1mph. 117-118 is it, period.

From what I calculate with 265/75/16 tires, 3. 54 axle, speed and a 3400rpm cutoff, you should be able to do about 123mph before the RPM limiter stops the show.

Computer shutdown above 100 MPH?

I was doing 100+ for many miles on the open area of Nevada SR 375 (Extra-Terrestrial Highway where one can see for miles) near Area 51... no shutdown... . until I hit that steer:( ... . The local (U. S. ) security folks took good care of me, however. The steer died, the Ram went to ICU... ... medicare will pay $12K plus... ..... Don't ask about not seeing the steer... I saw him from ten miles away..... It was a pure case of HUA (Head Up A**) :{

Won't slow down until you run out of hp or rpm. The chevy I had died at 98 mph. I promptly took care of that problem with an aftermarket chip with no fuel cutoff. :D

stock w/ 10k on speedo my y2k ran out of HP at 110. 4 runs both ways on pretty level road. Sucked a bunch of fuel.

Have never tried a bombed top speed run. I only like to run that fast on slicks !!
