My truck hasn't had cruise for a wile now never had electric over hydraulic brakes working. It has been back to the dealer 4 times, that 450 miles of back and forth to the dealer. Has any body dealt with this? Or how about a phone number of a district rep that might know where they keep the mechanics that might be familiar with these trucks in the north east WI area. This is the first truck that my shop couldn't repair due to the electronic. I would hate to give up it's pulling power, but I am starting to miss my 04 and thinking of selling this and get a clean older one and add a full rear air ride.

Still under warranty? If so I'd be working my way up the food chain at customer service. The phone number is in your owners manual. Open a case and mention the lemon law.

If it is on the 15 the dealer can see all the inputs on wiTech. I think Todd is trying to see if the ECM can control the engine speed by asking about the high idle, and checking the set button operation at the same time. Kind of a work around if you don't have the scanner. I don't believe the set button reports directly to the ECM. without looking it most likely goes to SCCM who then buses the message to ECM. That is why you really need the wiTech to see where the message is being lost. Highly unlikely it's the ECM.

My cruise control quit working, the icon would come on, but would not activate when setting, and turn green.

Was on a trip at the time called ahead to a dealer in Idaho Falls, Id. Got into them, took about a half hour , it just needed to be reflashed , it didn't sound like it was a big deal. That was about 18 months ago, no problems with it since.

I'm sure there are a lot of things it could be but I had this problem once on another vehicle, not a RAM. It turned out that the brake switch was showing on even when my foot was off the break. The brake switch is controlled by hydraulic pressure. If it sees or thinks it sees pressure, it will naturally not let the cruise activate. Just a long shot. Verify your brake lights are working properly to confirm the switch is not getting hung up. Just a wild *** possibility.

The brake light switch is't it. The first shop put one on it. I told them I didn't think that it was a hard part something is not communicating with each other. They worked on it twice didn't fix it, they did manage to shut the hood on a screwdriver denting the hood. They were good about that and said they would pay it. They wanted to put an abs module it said the wires are burnt but the abs works fine. I think at this point they are guessing and I am not going to pay to have parts throwing at it at over a $100 an hour until you find something. I don't do that in my shop. So I took it to another shop that has a mechanic that I thought was pretty sharp and the first thing he wanted to do was put another brake light switch on. The brake lights work like they should although the all lights will come on every once and a wile for no reason and then go off after a wile. This is after the truck has been sitting for hours not running and not being touched, If there is a trailer hooked up to it it will light it up also. Now if you disconnect the switch on the pedal this wont happen.

no it is not,it works off the pedal.

The brake (or stop) lamp sensor is a two-circuit, spring-loaded plunger actuated sensor that is secured to the brake pedal support bracket under the instrument panel on the driver side of the vehicle. The molded plastic sensor housing has an integral connector receptacle containing terminal pins. The sensor is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the body wire harness.
The sensor plunger extends through a mounting collar on one end of the sensor housing. The plunger has a telescoping self-adjustment feature that is activated as the sensor is being installed by the brake pedal in its normal at-rest position.
This brake lamp switch cannot be repaired. If the switch is damaged or ineffective it must be replaced with a new unit.

With out seeing the available live data it is only guessing. The dealer can print out multiple reports off the scanner to show you what prompted them to recommend the brake switch. That being said 99% of the issues I see on this version truck has been either one of the switches on the steering wheel or a connection at said switches.Seeing the average weekly demand for said switches will back up this

As said cruise quit working ,they did a reflash , sounds like I was lucky ,took about 1/2 hour to diagnose ,and reflash.

It's been back to the dealer 4 times I would guess it has had a reflash that's usually there go to fix, I will have to ask. The truck has at least 2 switches maybe 3. The one that is on the brake pedal something like pictured above does not operate the brake lights. When unplugged the brake lights on truck work fine, and the ghost lighting thing it does, stops. That switch has 3 wires it is hooked to the abs module and it is more of an rheostat then a switch. You don't adjust it, the abs module has to be recalibrated when a new switch is installed. (Two times now). What ever it does it has something to do with the speed at witch the abs is activated (I believe). And then there is one on the brake line that is used for the Integrated Trailer Brake Control Module. From what I am told this signal isn't shared as it is an option. So you would think there is a 3rd switch. From what I found out the cruse button a the 2015 steering wheel has been replaced on quite a few trucks to to repair a no cruse problem.

What mine did was when I pushed the on/off button, it would light up the icon on the screen, then when I pushed the set button, it usually would light up the icon to green, and set the speed. When it quit working the icon was still there when the on/off was pushed, but it didn't light up to green to show it was set.

Do you even get it to show on the screen that the cruise is on, and ready to set ?
