I know one thing. The American Axle Anti-Spin rear differential is a whole lot better than the previously offered Dana Limited-Slip. This one actually works!!!!!

I dont' have an 03 but I looked at one in an auto show and I am impressed with the yoke attachment on the Diff to the driveshaft. No more wimpy short bands over the universal ends. This has 4 big bolts going to a big flange on the yoke. Seems Much beefier.

Anyone know how long AA has been using this LSD setup with the 6 pinion gears? I sure hope it will hold up to the big power that is available from our Cummins engines.

The clutch plate method has been used by the Big 3 and Dana for years without major problems.

American axle

We got an '03 at the dealership where I work with rear end howling only after 3200 mi. Hope this is just a freak deal and not a common problem. Its a 3500 4X4 dually quad cab HO 6 spd FYI.

American axle....

Is the same company that's been making the chevy 14 bolt for years- one of the best designs and most reliable axles known.

I second the antispin performance- this design actually works, and without the chatter. I've been driving around in snow in 2wd for a couple days and the difference from my 01 clutch job is huge. The clutch job was always chattering and seldom worked in mild conditions (level ground, one tire on pavement the other on snow/ ice).

My Dana 80 clutch pac was rebuilt under warranty at 35k, worked for about 10 k, still chattered (I asked him to build it tight) at 76k, long after it stopped pulling two tires. And the carrier bearings were talking to me- not expected from a Dana 80.

I have to agree on the performance and smoothness of this LS unit. . you can tell its working by turning left with the window down and hear the tires slipping not the unit... perfect in rain (we dont get snow that sticks here) no slipping or sliding either when turning sharp turns on the throttle in wet... (maybe the training wheels help :D !!..... hopefully it will hold up...
