I don't know why this didn't catch my attention before. Just got back from a winter in Mexico and noticed the break dust on the front wheels but nothing on the rear. I'm towing heavy so (no exhaust break) some dusting is normal... but why not on the rear breaks.

Thinking back on things the rear wheels have never shown any dusting. The breaks seem to be working fine and I don't have any complaints... but just wondering why they wouldn't get as dirty as the front.

Any idea's?

I think it is because of the extra weight, compounded by inertia exerted on front versus back brakes. As the truck stops, weight is moving forward, the back brakes are basically pulling back an increasingly lighter weight while the front brakes are trying to push back an increasing downward weight . That is a terrible explanation, but when a vehicle stops suddenly, you can see the front of the vehicle plunge downward.

Disks!

I've got disk breaks all around. I thought there was some leveling device that detected when a load was on the rear and applied increasingly more rear break. The truck sits pretty level with the trailer attached so I would think more breaking power to the rear end.
