No Electronic Transfer Case in SLT Quad?

My dealer said Electronic Transfer Case not available in 3500 SLT Quad.

He said it's available in 3500 SLT Regular Cab, and of course the Laramie (Reg and Quad).



Why would Chrysler do this, and frustrate their customer?

You forgot the "Electronic 4WD should NOT be available on any HD truck" option. That would be my pick. In fact, I think they should have locking hubs. These trucks are becoming to SUVized.

i agree... that's exactly what i told my dealer when he asked if i wanted it on my truck.

Not to be contrary, but I really like the switch. I remember having the lock out hubs back in the 60's and 70's and squatting out there in the snow trying to get the damn things to engage with the snow blowing up my backside. Had to carry a pair of channel locks to twist the blasted things into place. I really don't have anything against the floor shift, the ones I had on my other Dodges worked just fine. The switch is faster, tho.

Manual for me

I remember my 97 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 had a push button switch for the 4x4. Running down a bumpy road and trying to push the right button drove me crazy, much easier and faster for me to have it on the floor. To each his own.



I really like the way the new Dodges have the 4x4 system, no axle disconnect. So if you get the manual transfer case and you put it in 4x4, it's gotta be in 4x4.

i've always had manual tc's w/the exception of my current truck (an 00 ranger). when you pull the handle on a manual tc you are in 4wd right now. it's instant. the electric tc on the other hand (at least in my ranger) takes some time to engage/disengage, like a second or two, that's an additional 1 or 2 seconds that i sit there and spin. it pisses me off... what i end up doing then is just driving around in 4wd all the time just to aviod the hassle...

the more levers i have to pull and thingy mo bobs i have to fool with to get it into 4x4 the better. it always equals less to break. it should be a lever or stick for me always on a heavy duty truck. jmo besides i like the exaggeration that it takes to get it into 4x4 with the stick vs. simply twisting a knob (my wife knows that it is on when i start jerking back on that mystery lever on the floor and things start to grind). it gets me fired up. ok i will admit it i am a little crazy but i have the feeling that there are alot of you out there that feel the same way.

When i bought my 97 ram I could not get it with manual hubs. After having it for 5 years i like it. The Electronic 4WD back in 97 i wouldn't even have looked at my truck. But It has been around now for sometime ,so I am looking foward to it on my 03.

clarification

Turns out that you can get electronic 4WD on Reg Cab, or Quad cab with Short Wheel Base, but NOT on



Quad Cab with Long Wheel Base (at least with the Single Rear Wheels)

Mine came with automatic 4WD. When the visual perceptors above the steering wheel perceive increased road turbidity and grade coupled with an increased pucker factor from the included rectal sensor package an automatic signal is generated that causes the gear shifting mechanism to calmly pull back the lever in front of the drivers seat resulting in a reduced pucker factor feedback.



No grinding, no fuses, no worries.



Its not electric but powered by beer and pizza!
