I had my transmission rebuilt and put in a TransGo shift & Precision of New Hampton diesel TC. I have a switch installed so that I can lockup the TCC to use with my exhaust brake, or keep the TCC from locking up under heavy pull, or just leave it to shift auto. The problem that I'm having is with the 1st and 2nd shift not working when I pull my 5th wheel trailer. When not hooked up to the trailer the transmission seems to work all right. Had trouble when the Dodge Boys replace the speed control sensor and didn't replace the wire connecter back into the sensor right. Would want to start in 3rd gear most of the time. Trans shop found the trouble and also replaced the governor solenoids. When I left this time with the trailer it would start off in 1st gear and shift into 3rd and OD, but a few miles down the road I lost 1st and would start off in 3rd gear. Had to put it in 2nd and shift up to drive for 3rd gear and OD. Shop scran said Governor Press sen CKT too hight (P1763). Also Gen Field not switching properly (P0622) and trans volt relay CKT 0 or 5 (P 1765). I had the relay removed and jumper wire installed to make the switch work. They said voltage @ transmission w/key off not good for solenoids. They replaced the governor solenoids again, but said any more electrical problems are on me. So have not put the jumper wire back in. But if I can't lock up the TCC, my exhaust brake is of no use to me. Someone told that the TransGo shift kit is not a good one to have put in. How about a SunCoast VB? I have a '98 12V 3500 Quad Cab.

What it sounds like to me is, when you installed the shift kit it upped the pressures in the transmission. Different companies use different resistors in the signal wire to the Trans control unit. There may be something in the instructions that the shop missed that tells you what resistor and what wire. Give one of the expert trans companies a call. I'm sure they would be more than happy to tell you what they recommend for a resistor and what wire to put it in.

I don't have the web pages easily accessable, but the big companies that WILL spend the time to help you are DTT and Goerends.

I believe mine is a 1/4watt 100ohm resistor... but I'm not sure.

If you are actually going to install someones valve body... . do your reasearch. It will be well worth the time. Everyone has a different way of building the transmissions and valve bodies. The customer service is what really sets the companies appart.

Josh

if you keep having problems, send me a PM I have contacts that I can find out the resistor information.
