Uh Oh. The AC was getting a little chilly yesterday evening so I tried to temper it with a little heat and... ... ... ... ... there was none. The air blows where it is supposed to I just don't have any heat. I got my manual out it is obvious I ether have a blend air door problem or no flow through the Heater core. Is it possible that an air pocket would keep water from flowing. The hoses seemed hot but everyting under the hood is after driving an hour.

I really hope I don't have to R&R this thing again. The book has virtually no information on the blend door servo. I think its just to the right of the transmission tunnel. Guess I'll see if its operating next.

Any one have the simple solution? I really am thinking I need to R&R this thing. I was very careful to make sure all the doors went back in correctly and that the pins entered the holes they came from. UgHHHH

Remove The Blend Air Door Motor From Bottom Of Housing By Trans Hump On Passenger Side And Try To Move Door By Hand To Change Temp Of Air Flow. If Moves Easily Your Motor Has Died. We Are Starting To See A Few Of Them Fail.

How in the heck do you get the screw in the back out of hi thing. Anyone havea pic of the inside of the motor. I got frustrated and unsnapped the motor and now have patic gears in my hand. Had a rough week so far. :-laf

Tractorface - disassembly is easy - puttin things back together is the hard part. :D

Sorry can't help you out on the photos, but I feel for ya man. Sounds like you should be gettin sick of lookin up at the bottom of your dash by now (along with a sore back).

Thanks, I just need to re-group. I used to have a nice angled screwdriver that would get to that last screw but my wife lets my two year old play with my tools while I am at work. I posted last night after digging through a couple of his toy boxes with no luck. Last time he lost one of my tools I asked him where it was as a last resort. To my surprise he made a face like he was thinking and then walked into his room and came out with my crimp tool :--) I was shocked. Hope that works tonight :-laf I am certain I can get it back together, more worried about what may be wrong with the Blend door. I think I'll do surgery with a dremel too rather than have to discharge the AC and R&R that damn box.

First thing to check that nobody has mentioned yet is to verify the cooling system is full. The heater core may not be getting it's share. I always prefer to look at the easy things first.

Also try running your truck up the steepest hill you can find with the heat running. This will make any bubbles float to the highest point in the sytem. Then you can add more coolant and get out the air. .

Do you remember hooking the heater door cable back up when you were putting it back together? It is a simple push pull cable which runs from the hot/cold knob to the blend door. It is located on top of the box about in the middle, right near the heater core.

HUHHH? My book talks about a cable to. I do not have any cable connection from the knob on the dash, only electrical. There is also a blend door servo motor. I just figured My truck had newer stuff on it. Have not had a chance to finish removing the motor. I have a sinking feeling that I installed the door incorrectly  If that is so I hope to "surgically" remove it and reinstall it correctly. "Doctor Rick paging Doctor rick, your needed in surgery, don't forget your dremel tool" :-laf

Hummmm... how about an old choke cable kit. Wire it up to the door, and you got a push-pull heat knob just like the cars back in the 40's. :D

Perhaps they started using electrical control for the blending. Sorry, my 98's are manual and I didn't think they would be different. Good luck!
