The manual transmission is there. You can't build a 2019 yet unless you're building a 1500. You can only build a 2018 for the HD trucks.

G56 only comes with the 6.7. Not the 5.7 or 6.4

I was next to a F-150 when the start feature came on. I would think starters wouldn't last too long with the constant use in city driving.

My new F150 has it. It is absolutely annoying to say the least. There is a large defeat button high on the center stack directly beside the flashers. It is such a large and easy to identify button, it makes you almost think that Ford wants you to defeat the system or at least make it as easy as possible to turn that thing off to avoid complaints from owners.

One of my daughters was in it the other day and said "dad, it's almost like driving an oversized golf cart".

I rented an F-150 a few months ago with it, had it for a week. I left the airport, came to a stop light and it shut off (as designed). I thought the truck was dead in a busy intersection! I eventually found that magic button and it became routine to start the truck and hit the button before going anywhere. My biggest complaint is that it didn't "remember" that I had shut it off during the last driving cycle and just leave it off. In reality it worked fine either way.

When RAM stops building that transmission then I will stop buying (about a truck every 60 days). Cant stand automatics. I cannot fathom the idea of a computer doing all the thinking for you. I also have a F150 for the kid. That stop/start is the biggest waste of over engineered nonsense ever put in a truck. They have engineered out any human thought out of these trucks. Just point the darn thing in the right direction (nope thats also done for ya) and control the engine load (done also) avoid the other trucks (done too) stop when you need too (done). Well I reckon you best drink your coffee and take a nap and let the truck do all the work. Sign of the times. Just how lazy are we wanting to be?

The manual transmission option was why I bought ram.

Unless one has been going aftermarket, you haven't been able to manually lock the front hubs on a Ram 4x4 since 1993, and in current trucks, only the Tradesman and Power Wagon have floor-mounted transfer case shifters. (Ford still offers full manual hubs and floor shift t-case on the Super Duty with the XL and XLT trims.) All Ram diesels have had electronic engine controls and electronic fuel injection since the demise of the 12-valve in 1998, and multi-pulse fuel shots since the common rail in 2003. The accelerator pedal has only been connected to a computer for many years. Even the windshield wipers are handled by the Body Control Module and not a simple switch, thus their ability to cycle and park themselves even after you turn the engine off. All 2019 Ram 1500s - even the most stripped-down Tradesman models - are push-button start/stop, and they all have an electric parking brake. Automatic and electronic controls have been around way too long.

As for automatic transmissions...
- Much of the trucking industry disagrees with you. Automatics and automated manuals have not only proven to be just as fuel efficient as the traditional clutched manual, the "two-pedal cab" has made driver training easier and reduced driver fatigue.
- Some modern automatics have full manual overrides. You can go into manual mode and shift up and down by hand all day. Currently, Ram only uses range select that limits the highest available gear (but accesses all gears below it), but depending on what transmissions come out with the 5th gen next year, they may offer a full manual mode as well.

I get there are die-hards like yourself, but in the very near future, you will simply not find a new manual transmission full-sized pickup.

Unfortunately a lot of the old timers will always pine for the standard but it is going the way of the Do Do bird lol. As it should. Time as and technology has passed it by not to mention you favorite Uncle wanting it gone. Hate them myself so it makes
me no difference.

comrade busa - why do you think the manual should go away? the only reasons i bought a ram was the cummins and the manual. yep, im a caveman. and proud of it. cheers!

Well they are not efficient and even in upper end sports cars they have been eclipsed. Cokes are no longer a dime either for that matter. Really it comes down to dollars. With demand falling for the standard it costs more plain and simple -- days are numbered for the old stick shift no matter how much you want it to remain.
