You, as well as the previous posters are correct. However, this myth was commonly perpetrated on some of the Ford truck forums lamenting the lack of the Cummins option, since they were owned by Ford. The idea is brought up here for its value as sarcasm.

Um neither. Ford has never owned Cummins. Used to say so on their website. "We are not now nor have we ever been owned by, or a subsidiary of, Ford Motor Company. " It used to be at this link: http://www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/....cfm?uuid=4C4DC616-FDBD-11D3-984A0004AC33EA57, but their redesign crapped that link out.
