Looking for a new truck

Thoughts on this UNIMOG (New) Block

OK - is this correct? I was browsing at a new Jeep Diesel - pretty peppy - and I was told by the salesman that the Gov of Wash had just signed legislation that put the end on Diesel Cars in WA! He said that they could sell their existing stock - 4 - but were not getting any more. He said that none were sold in Calif. Is this the truth?????

there is plenty of them in southern new jersey because they are not selling well here right now. i wish me or my wife were in the market for one. i was at a dealer about 6 weeks ago and a no it all was in the parking lot said the best thing you can do with that is let it run, don't ever shut her down. i spoke up alittle trying to respect that this guy is about 70 and i am 27 and told him that the diesel market now is completely different than 10-20+ years ago.

That might be true, but sounds more like a car salesman's ploy to get you to buy one of them. We all know there are those in that profession that make it up on the fly. If I really wanted one, I would make a few phone calls to other dealers, and run, don't walk from this salesman...

I wouldn't doubt it in Wash. That "new" governor Witch, who stole the election out there, will probably go on a "greeny-winny" rampage and ban everything.

Jeep CRD Liberty

FatCat, you got that statement right!! She's from a movement

that would like to put your butt in a transit bus and send you home to

a house with all of the windows raised.

I drove the New Liberty with the CRD and it was unbelievable how

much power it had, no lag or wind up like in most automatic

transmissions, it was more or less like my Dodge CTD. In other words

it would likely back over my fishing tackle box like my Ram did before

you realized it, in 4-wheel drive of course. I'm 6'4" and could sit

behind the steering wheel with most adequate leg room, more so than

my wifes '01 Lesabre.

I'll Second That!

Kudos on the comments on the Diesel Liberty. I'm 6' and 'lil over 300#(big-boned :) and I fell in love w/the one I drove... took off like V-8 Mustang and they advertise near 30mpg highway... I was more comfortable in it than my Dodge Tk (seat don't go back far enough for me) although not as much headroom as the truck. As I recall it has rack and pinion steering w/full time 4wd and a FIVE speed auto trans and is rated for towing 5000#. Now if I was looking for a vehicle other than a truck I'd probably have to pull the trigger on one of them thar critters.

What would happen if a person lived in Ct... . let's say... and then bought a Liberty... and 2 years later moved to Vermont?

Would he / she be allowed to register the vehicle in Vermont?

Just curious.

Yes you can. Better yet, you guys can be honorary citizens of NH and can use my address to register. NH is the last New England state to sell any diesel you want. Were holding out as long as we can, but more and more Mass-holes (Mass X-plants) :D keep infiltrating our state and trying to change us into Mass. north.

Just being helpfull :D Has that new govenor banned . 50 BMGs yet??? I'm quite sure that is next on her list, along with (related to another post) venting gas cans; sugary foods; cigarettes; diesel trucks ... ... :-laf

Another Nice Liberty

Picked my truck up today at the dealer and they just got a diesel Liberty Ltd Edition w/all the bells and whistles that somebody must have ordered. Was she sweet! Lucky dog.

Now if we could only figure out how to move our Governor out to Washington State to join hands with theirs...

Know how you make two tree huggers happy? You have them join hands around a big (40" diam or larger) freakin tree and with two pair of handcuffs you join them together and say a few nice words and leave them in the woods where they will live happily everafter. Amen :D

I currently own a '05 Grand Cherokee with Hemi power. I love this truck except the gas milage about 14mpg on a good day. In Europe you can get the same truck with a Mercedes V6 Diesel. I pray one day that DC offers such a truck in the US. In the meantime I want to go down to my dealer and test a Diesel Liberty. All this talk has go me thinking.

Why wait 2 years?

Oh, and you know the reasoning behind the blocking of sales of NEW diesel cars? It's because of emissions... . why don't they block the sales of SUV's, or how about cars with HUGE, useless engines (e. g. Chrysler 300C, Ford Mustang, etc. , etc. ). Now wouldn't that make more sense? Of course it would. Hmm, I'm not just a little bitter about all this crap, am I? :-laf I thought new diesel cars were better on emissions than older ones? Maybe I'm mistaken here?

Hey, here's an idea, why don't they ban the use of all diesels, that would surely cut down on emissions, right? Sure, I'll keep driving my 17mpg Chevy Tahoe which obviously guzzles gas and spits out tons of harmful emissions from it's 5. 7L V8...

Ugh, what's this world coming to? I'm getting sick of this, maybe I'll go become a hermit or something, lol. :-laf

Oh, and Billygee, that's really funny, I like it :-laf

I was in Idaho over the weekend and tried to test-drive a diesel Liberty, but they didn't have any at the local dealer :( . I really want to give one a go. I wish they were offered with a manual. If it seems ok with the auto, maybe it'll be put on the short-list for possible cars for the wife. I would definately get the super-long extended warranty though ;) .

Travis. .

p. s. I don't like that idea about banning Mustangs either! ;)

Good thing you didn't buy one. . DMV probably would have turned you down for registration.

I was just about to start a thread about the CRD in CA and found this one.

The wife and I decided to order a new Jeep CRD only to find that’s not allowed in CA…what the heck!! Sometimes I just hate this state.

Oh. . let me rub some salt. . other States can order it with a 6 speed now, dang I am ******! :-{}

Wife is sierously looking into one.

No 6 Speed yet in the CRD tho... . :(

It wouldn't be a problem, we have a house up there that we could register it to. One of the cool little bennies of a second home. Are you saying it is available with a manual trans now? If so, it might get a real serious look.
