I just heard that they stoped producing the NV5600 six speed.

Does anyone else know about this. I always hate it when people stop making a good thing. :(

I guess "soccer moms"(aka 3rd genners) were complaining too much about the clunkiness of the 5600. The new Gutbag is suppose to be real smooth. Let us bow our heads and pray that its a boltin for the first genners. Amen.

nv5600 for sale/trade ect

I bought a nv5600 trans out of a rolled over 2003 cummins truck last summer by mail order. When it arrived I found that it was for a 4x4. My trucks are all 2wd . The company I bought it from would not take it back. I am willing to trade it for a 2wd 5600 or would sell it for the 1200. 00 which I paid for it. Or if anyone has a mainshaft and tail housing for a 2wd 5600 I would buy that from you and convert it to 2wd. It really does not matter to me which way it goes. I just bought it on a whim. If any of you wish to do a 5600 conversion and have a 1st gen. getrag or 1st gen. 13' clutch I would consider a partial trade or be interested in buying them from you to keep around for spares my my trucks. If your getrag is worn or blown up that is ok too. Parts are parts. LOL

I can be reached at 301-933-5277 anytime or email -- email address removed --

new Getrag

Has anyone actually seen one of these 'new Getrag' trannys. Over the production period of the 360, Dodge certainly had problems with the Getrag. If they had acknowledged what was wrong with the trannys, it might have lessend the negative attitude that still exist today. I have heard rumors as to why so many failled but no confirmed information.

Clearly, I got a good one from the start as I now have 460k miles on a 360 Getrag. It is time to do some repair and the truck is sidelined for that very reason, but it will still go and come if needed. In fact, if I didn't go so far from home, I would drive it on a good deal more. Problems on the road are too expensive to take a chance.

(Sooo when my transmission goes I will be able to drop in a New Getrag?)

I seriously doubt anything so convienent.

Nice.

JTryles is correct, it isn't a Getrag. And for the record, I too hate it when they change something that was working well. Love my NV5600's

New Trans

You heard it here first, Getrag, a German based company(HELLO!), is currently working on two different styles of gear boxes for OEM production. One is a DCT,(Dual Clutch Transmission) 6/7 speed. The other is a IVT,(Infinitly Variable Transmission). The IVT will eliminate the need for a two gear transfer case.

You may remember the DCT in the race Posche a couple of years ago. One clutch engages the even gears and the other engages the odd gears. You could shift the manual trans at full throttle with a paddle wheel on the steering column.

hmmmm....

Dana and German transmission specialist Getrag Getriebe Zahnradfabrik announce they have purchased a controlling 60% stake in Volvo Car Corp. 's AWD assembly operations in Koping, Sweden. Volvo will retain 40%.

The JV, in the works for two years, will be known as Getrag All-Wheel Drive AB, a Dana/Getrag company. Dana has owned 30% of Getrag since November 2000 and owns 49% of Getrag's North American operations. Getrag's Newton, NC, plant produces power takeoff units (a key drive component for AWD systems) and front and rear axles.

"IF" Getrag is behind the new 6 speed for Daimler, I wonder if Dana axles will make a comeback?

Well I am get a new NV4500. I have also heard that they are getting rid of those too. But I wish NV5600 would stick around for a while because I like the idea that if I wanted to buy it I could. I don't like being told no. :-laf
