Need some info - goofy cummins - 8.8?

Got some Big O employees' attention!

I love my truck, but this crawling under and over it for the love of motor oil every 4-5k is wearing me out.

So I just put in fresh synthetic and am ordering a bypass system next week.

Sure, I'll be adding oil when changing filters, but the drain plug is going to stay put for a LONG time now.

NOW back to that fuel/air program!:D

Update

The bypass filter is here. Hain't had time to hang in on there. When I do, I'm going to let it filter the dirty synthetic I'm running now-with photos and maybe even samples.

But after that, I'm only going to change the oil when it starts getting dark. If my Bounty performs like my friends Bounty--that'll be well over 10,000 miles... ;)

Well, someday when I get through installing hotrod parts and other accessories, THEN I might look forward to changing the oil and fuel filter and such. :D

But until then, the idea of continually refined clean oil in my crankcase is awfully appealing.

Gulf Coast Filter through John Birdsell. TDR discounted price is $375 complete kit, shipping included. Group purchase price available for three or more. And they now have an "element" to use in the GC cannister for those who don't like the paper towel concept.

refinery in motion

Now the system holds 17 quarts and is cleaning itself all the time. Should be sparkly new looking by meeting time. It's jet sooty black now at 95,400 miles. Will put new Fleetguard strainer on tomorrow and let the Bounty suck up the soot.

English version: I installed the GC bypass system today. Am leaving fully sooted synthetic in there. Topped off with 6 quarts of new oil. Details as they develop.

I dunno, I think that you will develop an odor if your skippin' showers and just puttin' on clean skivies!

But, like Ive said before, put whatever you think works in your crankcase. And, please, don't take this personal.

No MOre Oil Changes for me

I have had 3 CTD pickups. First one was 91 1/2 (First Intercooled) on the CTD. The 2nd one was a 94, and the current one is a 03'.

I have always used the Amsoil Brand By-pass oil filter system and done oil analysis at 10,000 mile intervals. 100,000 mile drain intervals are very common doing this; in fact the 91' actually went way over 100,000 miles before it was changed, as did the 94'.
