Friend of mine recently purchased a 98. 5 truck with a banks monster exhaust and the Big Loss, I mean Big Hoss box. This box alone is supposed to give 160 hp and 317 ft-lb. His pyrometer and boost guages are electric gauges that read from the box. Hes not seeing anymore than 20lbs of boost ????? Im seeing 28+lbs of boost with just an old style Van Aiken and straight 4" exhaust. We have identical drivetrain configurations - 5spd 4wd 4. 10 dana 80 except his is a dually. We ran them last night and I pulled him by about one car length. I didnt leave him but he couldnt close in on me. So we decided to stack my Van Aiken on his Big Hoss box. Didnt seem to do much of nothin?? - no more boost at all!!! The shop that installed the banks box said the Van Aiken would wake his truck up?? Why can't we get more than 20 lbs of boost out of his truck? Is it because the Big Hoss is telling the boost gauge the same thing it is telling the map sensor? P. S. Tightened all intercooler hoses and intake horn bolts. Thanks for any info.

Is there a boost elbow or "big head actuator" on the turbo? If not, the stock wastegate is set to open about 20psi. With no mods there, he won't get more than 20-21psi.
