The Other Day, My Truck Decided To Stop Going Into Od, Unless Im Over 45 Mph, And Will Come Out Of Od At 45, Tc Will Not Lock Unless I Let Off The Throttle Most Of The Way, Or Use My Manual Switch; But Still Wont Always Work. And Tc Will Stay Locked Up, Until Either I Touch Brakes Or Go Below 45, I Have Check Tps, Replaced All Electrical In Valve Body, Trans Is Built, But Not Sure With What. This No Od Til 45 Is New, No Tc Lock Under Normal Condition Has Been Like This Since I've Owned The Truck 1+ Years Now. Does The Pcm Have Any Control Over This? Vss?

Thanks Travis

Ps. What Is The Fix To An Erratic Fuel Gauge?

3rd gear lockup (OD lockout) occurs at approx 30mph, 4th gear lockup (OD) occurs at 45-50mph. . Sounds like your truck is doing what it's supposed to do. .

What did it do differently before? Almost sounds like your TC is slipping. .

Fuel gauge fix isnt too pretty, you gotta drop the tank or raise the bed and clean or replace the sender potentiometer

well since i wrote this its now intermitent. but as normal goes. 98% of the time, tc wont lock no matter what throttle position im at, unless i have my lock switch on or just have my foot resting on the pedal enough to read tps percentage and counts, and even then it takes, some fanagling, my friend has a 95 and his will lock at 45mph every time under lite throttle, and at 60-65 under 80% throttle, his trans is a dtt, not sure if that makes a difference. mine will lock in third if i have od off, but have to do the same amount of screwing around, to get it to go. if light throttle is applied can go 60 even 70 mph and hold that speed, and still will not lock. and i dont think its slipping, once it locks it goes and holds, trans temp doesn't climb actually lowers, and its also a double lock and billet i'm told, im wondering if maybe my valve body has issues. iknow a guy who builds these things on the side, and he thatught maybe the pcm is going funky. 2% of the time i have owned the truck it will lock properly, but its super rare, almost like the slave pistons in the valve body are hanging up or fluid psi is getting by, the pistons.

hope this helps explain, its one of those you gotta drive it to see. just thought i would try getting some help here, with out downing the truck and tossing parts at it. or payinga shop to look at.

Try to find some bio-diesel , 20% or more , but use antigell , if your in weather thats get to 0*-10* F. , I noticed my gage working better after a tankfull or so .
The same thing with the trans. , change the filter and have it flushed , then see if you still have a problem .
Then if you still have a problem , I would start looking at electrical connectors , have a shop put the sensors on a scope , the only way to check movement sensors , sweep-TPS , rotating-speed .

Is there a way to adjust the TPS. I just put in the 913 pump and had to lengthen my throttle linkage and now the transmission wont stay locked up unless I have 1/4 throttle or more. The pedal is higher than it used to be so I think the TPS thinks there is no throttle pressure.

either that or you manual lock up switch is got a loose connection so when you have it locking normal it isn't getting a good read on the wire's just a suggestion check where you spliced in the manual lock up and see if it is losing connection some or maybe a little corroded. sorry about spelling.

i will have to check the wire, but before i installed the switch it wouldn't lock, im wondering if a have valve body issues or a pcm malfunctioning, about once every 2 or 3 months the converter will lock up as it should. but just that once. what about this temp sensor i heard about, if that is bad or miss behaving will i have these issues, or is a switch just on or off, and does it make multiple changes as trans warms up.

thanks again for all your help everyone

the temp sensor could cause it but it would also stop from shifting 4th also if that was causing it because the sensor stops the shifts after 3rd till temp is up then shift in 4th and then lockup.
