I was driving to work last night when I looked at my oil pressure gauge. It was riding on 0 psi or a little bit above. The truck was running fine. No strange noises, all other gauges reading normal. I pushed in the clutch to coast down one of the big hills and the gauge jumped back to 40 psi. Let out the clutch and gave it a little throttle and the gauge bottomed out below 0 psi. Pushed in the clutch and same deal, jumped back to 40 psi. Got to work and while idling it will sit at 40 psi. Touch the throttle and it bottoms out below 0 psi. Drove home from work this morning and the same thing. I got a few miles before it actually started dropping. The engine still has oil in it. What do you think?

I would go to Cummins and get a new pressure sender, easy to put in, the other thing you could do is pull the plug ontop of the filter housing and install a gauge there to varify what you are seeing in the cab, you could tube the gauge in and tie the gauge to your winshield wiper and drive the truck, your local auto parts dealer will have a cheap gauge complete with all the tube , gauge and everything you need, I think the plug is 1/8 npt fitting.

Cheers, Kevin
