My guage sais some times in the 1mile trip from work to home that I have no oil pressure but I checked and I have plenty of oil. I picked up a manual guage (not yet installed and tested) but I'm not running my truck untill I figure this out. my truck has 151K has my oil pump gone on the fritz? cause most of the time pressure is fine

They do now (starting in '94 2nd gens), but are about as useful. Idiot gauges. :( Need some REAL ones.

It the sender making good ground contact to the block? What kind of thread sealer did you use, if any, to seal the threads when the new sender was installed?

Bad chassis to motor ground?

I rigged a marine pressure alarm switch on both oil and fuel pressure. If either is below 10 PSI a big red light comes on. It's not like I don't trust the OEM gauge or something like that.

Marine hardware store. Any commercial fishing port will have them. I think the sport marine hardware stores will have them too, but not sure. There is an alarm system for all sorts of things for fishing boats. Pretty simple. The sensors make a connection when the out of limits situation occurs. If you get the entire alarm system it can be hard on your heart Big loud bell goes off. If you survive it the seat will be a mess. It used to scare us pretty good when the bilge water got high. So I just got the sensors for the truck. In this case I put a sensor on the fuel pressure and one on the engine oil. I also have one for coolant temp. All of them are connected to a big red light. When it shines I know it's time to check my gauges. It's big enuff that it will attract my attention for sure.

The way I rigged mine was to put 12 volts on the light from the ignition on circuit. Then the alarm sensor is simple, just connect the wire from the other side of the light to one terminal of the sensor and the other side of the sensor to ground. This also means that the light is tested everytime the ignition is on and the engine is not running.
