I do not wish to start another oil war. I would just like some information that I can't find in previous posts.

By going to a presentation after buying my new truck, where they introduced to the parts and service manager and talked about other stuff, I received 8 free oil and filter changes.

I had my first change the other day. They use Mopar oil. I was told that Mobil makes Mopar's oil. That would make this oil Delvac right?

I have not heard anybody speak about the Dino Delvac, just the synthetic. Is there any "real" reason why I should not put this in my 03 HO truck? I had always used Delo in my other two CTDs with good luck.

if it is mobil, it probably is delvac 1200 or 1300 or 1500 [i can't remember the numbers:( ] one of the above is a 15w40 iirc, so it's probably it [1300 i think:confused: ]

I don't know...

if the Mopar oil is Mobil or not, but I do run the Mobil Delvac 1300 Super, 15w40. It is the only oil that has ever been in either of my Dodge Ram CTDs after the factory oil was changed out. My '92 has 240,000 miles on it and my '99 has almost 137,000 miles on it. No problems related to engine oil or filters (Wix #51607:-{} :p) what so ever. Good stuff. :D Oh, and this particular oil is NOT synthetic!

The new ISB requires CI-4 oil which is relatively new. Its very low ash and its what gets us the 15k change interval. I don't know what the Mopar oil is, make them show it to you. It needs to be CI-4 and 15W-40.

I'm only going to use Cummins Blue 2000, which is made by Valvoline. I have a Cummins distributor across the street from work, and its the same or less than Delo 400 per gallon.

CI-4?

Do the '03s require CI-4? When I went to a Cummins new model

intro at a transportation seminar last October we were told that

the only models that required CI-4 were those engines that used

cooled EGR.

I was using Valvoline Premium Blue in my 2001, and felt pretty good that Cummins had blessed it. Now when the time comes I am thinking of using the new Blue Synthetic oil. There is not a lot of talk around here of using Valvoline oil.

Why is that?
