Archived no overdrive

I am planning on leaving on a 500 mile trip Monday... . today my truck would not shift into overdrive... is it ok to travel this way and what should I look for as a fix? If I wait to go to the not so trusted dealer I will not be able to make it to my destination as planned. Thanks in advance for your help. 2003 4X4 extend cab 40 K miles # 47 trans... automatic ... yes it's a diesel.

Couple things come to mind could be blown fuse, or sensor in either case the transmission may not be going into lock up mode so that would be bad. If you know it is locking the torque convertor then it could be like driving in 3rd gear no problem for a 3. 73 rear end a 4. 10 you would overrev the thing pretty bad on the highway at 70.



The biggest question is going to be do you have time/money to get stranded on the side of the road with a truck that is acting up?
