 Help, my 04 2500 with a 48re automatic seems to have lost the park pawl or came out of adjustment after sitting overnight in a parking lot.

Also, the 1-2 shift is ocurring at or near 3000rpm. This truck is well cared for and doesnt look like its been tampered with.

Im assuming the pawl linkage is like the older automatics, but I havent had a

any experience with the newer automatics..... yet!

Given the problems you list it sounds like a VB problem. The parking pawl is the sam as it was on a 727, run off the shift lever.

The high shift rpm is usually the gov solenoid\transducer but if the linkage comes apart in the VB it will cause the same type issues.

Sounds like its time to have it looked at. Good luck and hope its a simple fix. :)

I would check the linkage to the shift arm first, may have just slipped. Will the starter engage when the indicator is at N or P? If so then the problem is inside the trans. bg
