Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) No power after starting

For the last few weeks my truck has been slow after starting the first time each day. If I push the pedal to the floor it will only go to maybe 5 mph and it pours out a bunch of black smoke. It will start performing normally after about half a mile or if I just let it idle for about 5-10 min after starting. It just started one day and it is not something gradual. Any ideas?

Apps sensor maybe?? Or air in the fuel system. Check 24v Faq's for more info on the APPS.

Did you ever find the cause of your cold starting power issue? My 2001 truck just started doign the same thing.
