I was going to take my truck to work today. Jumped in started it up and had no power assist for the steering or brakes. I'm thinking my vaccum pump is shot? Either that or the blue cylinder on the hydroboost unit is bad. Any ideas? Thanks. -Glen

Finally got to look at it today. The power steering pump was bone dry. Filled it up, racked the steering back and forth to purge out the air. All is good. Now to find my leak. Thanks very much. -Glen

Glen it seems most leaks are from the power steering pump seal which is between the vacuum pump and power steering pump. Probably the biggest problem is getting things cleaned up enough so you can find the leak.

Glen maybe you will luck out and it will just be a loose line connection. While I have not done the power steering pump seal replacement(knock on wood) it seems to be a little bit of a pain to do but not overly so . There are posts of others doing it on here and the kit you get from Geno's has a video and tool that can be used for removal and installation of the seal as I recall.

Good luck let us know how it goes.

My hydroboost barfed all over the garage floor one day about 4 years ago. I never figured out why, but I filled the reservoir back up and no problems ever since. I'm sure you would have see the puddle if that were your case, though.
