No power at positive trailer pin on bumper

I am trouble shooting the converter wiring in an older pop up truck camper, and have discovered that there is no power to the trailer + on my 7 pin factory receptacle.



I don't know if it ever had it because I've never needed it before.



There is power at the 1 fuse and the 40 amp fuse is good.



Would it have left the dealer without this hooked up?



Where should I start looking for loose wires? Where would this power leave the fuse box?

It is possible the + spade on the factory receptacle has become corroded and is not passing electricity easily. If you haven't already, try cleaning it.

There is a plug in the wiring harness behind the bumper. Disconnect it and see if you have power there. It is possible the + spade on the factory receptacle has become corroded and is not passing electricity easily.

Did you just look at the fuse? Try an ohmmeter on it.

I didn't ohm the fuse, but it will run power through it to my test light.

I just tried to pop the plug behind the bumper and only succeeded in breaking the little red holder tab. Any tricks to getting the rest off? It is stubborn due to cold maybe, so I warmed it a bit with a hair dryer and it still wont do much more than wiggle.

All good. Not sure if it was just dirty, but it works now. It was stubborn but came off without any furher breakage.

To make it a lot easier to unplug the 7 pin plug from the harness, take the 4 screws out that hold the plug to the bumper. Pull the 7 pin plug socket out and then you can get to the harness plug much easier. I would also take it apart, clean up the connector pins and put some dielectric grease on the pins before you plug back the wire harness.

you should look at the "tipm saver, especially if you pull different trailers, or one with bad wiring.
