Upon start-up this morning, I noticed terrible vibration in the steering wheel and subsequently in the brake pedal. Hoping that one of the many oil leaks under my truck was a power steering fluid leak I turned around (with major steering wheel effort) and went back home and tried to add fluid- the tank was full, and foaming with bubbles. Does this mean--for sure, that the power steering/brake booster pump are kaput? What does Daimler$Chrysler get for the pump? (Or can it be re-built???)

*sigh* a 500k mile engine in a 100k truck.....

inferior powersteering pump is cold

Been there done that. . Howl, vibration, brakes, steering...

Power steering pump was replaced under warranty due to that noise... .

Now it is starting again when the truck is below zero. Usually the espar heater seems to take the chill off, but that is broken now too... :)

Check your levels and put in a synthetic fluid. My pump must be eating up it's seals as it starting to really use the fluid up fast. When I top it off, it is quiet, the steering and brakes are normal, but before long the noise starts on the cold mornings.....

I live on a nasty ole dirt road and respond to emergency calls when the smart people are home in front of the wood stove. Wrecks havoc on the Ram but I love my job. .
