'99 auto, K&N standard filter, Amsoil 5w30 HDD w/ bypass filter, 136,000, transmission just replaced at 110,000 completely rebuilt and Sun Coast TC.

Have not really ever towed anything more than a landscaping trailer before. Wasn't ever dissatisfied with power of truck as a driver. But, just purchased a 26' travel trailer (only weighing in at 4500lbs). Of course the gentleman at the dealership who took me out for a test drive with it the first time was a PowerStroke guy. Drove it home on interstate 78, with the pedal to the floor and couldn't get above 65mph. Had to go over Blue Mountain to get home 8% grade for 1. 5mi. 40 was all she could muster, and halfway up had heat problems with the engine, had to back her down to 30.

I am not a mechanic, have never had anything apart on it other than normal maintenance items.

Suggestions PLEASE!!!

Two things, check the fuel filter. Also there were lots of failures with the early 24 valve thermostats. I'm on my 4th one at 99,000. bg

Fuel filter has about 3000 miles on it. I have filters and fuel pressure gauge ordered from Geno's. Temperature normally is OK but I will check that.

One more bit of information. The last time I changed my fuel filter I had a difficult time priming the system, LP??? And if so, where is the best place to get one?

Thanks

Get a new lift pump from Cummins, they are right around $150. I definantely picked up some snap when I replaced my original lift pump.

Hay mine has been like that since new but try the APPS see if the resistance between. pins 3 to 5, 3 to 4, 1 to 6 and 1 to 2 contact resistance should be less than 125 ohms and not shorted between . and have more info if youu need. 99 dog 3. 54 4x4 manual 1 ton. has had a bad APPS since new and has been gutless since then. So sounds like the APPS in the USA are cheaper so tempted to order from there when I can afford one.

Pressure tested LP, 0Lbs. Hope I didn't hurt VP44. Called every dealer in 100 miles. Found 1, 60 miles away. $300 later and truck is running better than it has since I bought it.

Does anyone know where to get the special "barring" tool for turning engine to TDC for valve adjustments. Called everywhere and no one but dealer knows what it even is. Or is there another way to do this?

Adjusting Valves

You should be able to turn the nut on the altnator and the motor will rotate, that is how i do mine. Oo.
