Hey Guys,

I got a question... . I pull a hotshot trailer 98% of the time and have notice for the last 40,000 miles I continually losing power. For instance as I start pulling a hill I lose power and I push on the peddle I continue lose rpm and speed. . it seems like if i lift on the peddle just a tick it will hold. Is there a TPS sensor on here pardon mefor being ignorant... . I put an intank pump in about 130,000 miles ago and just upgraded to 75 horse injector tips..... idles great but it does not have the torque I think should. Even empty with no trailer it really does not seem to go. One more thing i took it to Diesel Injection in Louisville,ky. They checked out the truck and found a cracked injector tip of which i replaced. They stated fuel pressure would drop to 0 psi when matted (wide open throttle). I asked about that and they stated as long as there was volume there is no problems they stated the intank pump is not a pressure but a volume. My thoughts are no pressure no volume?? any Ideas really getting tired of no power. :{ oh yeah no coedes set. .

Thanks guys. .

Scott

Okay hmmm. . does anybody no whether the fuel pressure should drop to 0 when "mashing on it?" Is this possibly part of the no power thing?

Scott, you definitely need pressure from the lift pump. Your power additions cause the "needs" of the CP3 high pressure pump to increase beyond the volume capability of the lift pump to feed it. Hence the drop to zero pressure. You will have to add a pusher pump or the best is to remove the stock lift pump from the side of the fuel filter housing, put in an adapter and line, and mount a pusher pump on the frame. Check with vendors of pusher pumps such as Diesel Performance Products (F. A. S. S. ) (www.DieselPP.com). Your hard copy TDR magazine can be a resource here. Your truck also may have an Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS), mounted on the driver's side front corner of the cylinder head.
