Is there anybody else out there that has not received a clockspring recall. As you can tell by my profile I have a 2001 and have not received the notice. I was wondering if it is for certain serial number or models. I called my dealer (Crown Dodge in Ventura) the worst dealer in the U. S. in my opinion, and they say there is no recall on the new trucks. That it is just a rumor. Obviously they don't know there a$# from a hole in the ground. Is there a recall # or something I can get from someone out there so I can check this out. I realize this has been talked about for awhile and am confused that I have received nothing. Thanks to all ... ... ... Dwayne:cool: :D TDR rules.....

Mine was built in October 2000 and I received the Clock Spring recall. My build date as I recall was within a few days of the ending build date of the recall. There is a post sometime back which directed you to the precise info on what serial numbers and models were involved.

I just called Dave Smith Motors for warrenty work and was told that there is a recall on the clock spring and it would be changed out when I come in.

mediccummin,

it would be wonderful if you printed out the recall notice and took it to the folks down at Crown Dodge that said there was no recall. Then post on here their reaction for thinking they know all but in fact know nothing for the rest of us to enjoy.

My dealer said they don't know any more about it than we do. Said it's not unusual for the news to get out before they are informed. Watch you mail. I believe the previous recall was limited to 2000 models. This is much broader, based on what I heard on the radio, and includes other models and years. Not sure it's the clockspring either.

I wish I knew where the communication link is broken with dealerships and the company.

I had a 95 Chevy S-10 (corrected that mistake by getting my CTD Ram) with numerous problems. One problem was the wipers would go intermittent intermittently. This was October time frame and it gets kinda damp in Seattle around this time. I was in for other warranty work and asked the service writer if they had a problem with wiper controls. He (amazingly enough) had not heard of any problems. It wasn't 4 weeks later I got a recall notice. I went back in, got it fixed and the service writer was still (playing?) ignorant on the issue.

I happened to mention it to my neighbor about a week later. She was a lease manager at GMAC at the time. She immediately replied, " Oh, we've know about that one since September. " That was a month before I asked the service writer at the Chevy dealership.

Bottom line. Take the notice to them in writing or they'll plead the fifth!

I also find it odd the lease people at GMAC knew about the problem and pending recall first. That tells me which customers are coddled...
