12 hours of driving to get 90 miles. NV5600. TONS of moving 10 feet and stopping. Everything worked when we arrived. 8 hrs later, won't even try to go into reverse. Forward gears work fine. Clutch feels fine. I'm guessing (hoping) it's a linkage problem. Any help is much appreciated.

We made it back to Houston at my brother- in-laws. Hope I didn't mess it up driving back from Columbus but didn't have much choice. I will have a chance to crawl underneath an have a look tonight or in the morning.

Won't go running or not and the shifter seems to just hang up when trying to shift to reverse. No problems with the forward gears though it was getting a little notchy towards the end of that trip.

I would open up the pto cover and see if there is pieces and shavings from a failure in the transmission. Also take the gear shift lever off of the top and make sure it is ok. If you have a failure I have a '01 6-speed for sale. Sam

OK, here goes. We pulled all of our stuff out of the cab of the truck so we could get to the shift lever (we packed all our worldly possessions possible as we thought we were coming home to a concrete slab). There was a worn spot on the shift boot. My brother-in-law and I exchanged a glance and I tried again... right into reverse. We think it was the corner of a small table that shifted and was weighed down by a tool box and a bunch of other stuff that was wedged in the wrong place.

Chalk it up to staying up for 35 hours, shock that the big one was really hitting home, accumulated stress fatigue, my being an idiot or whatever. I won't argue. It has been a long week. Taking out my stupidity factor, that transmission held up to 4000+ gear shifts over 24 hours, endless idling and stop-and-go driving.

Thanks for the help.

John
