Me and a buddy put a Suncoast torque converter and valve body on his 2002 Dodge and now we have no reverse. It worked at first and slowly went away, now it does nothing in reverse. Works good in all the forward gears. It went into limp mode at first and we did the resistor thing on wire #31 and that took care of that. But we have no reverse, any ideas?

If you could reply or even call that would be great.

Thanks.

Why don't you call Suncoast?

What you are describing is a rear band/servo problem.

Drop the pan, check/re-adjust the rear band. And inspect it.

You may also have a broken rear band apply strut.

Then of course you could do what my sister-in-law did--- just never park it where you need to back up!!!

Also check the rear apply servo for cracks around the edge where the seal is and in the cener by the rod clip. I've replaced many of these that had the same symptoms.

We found the problem. We put the plastic thing that fell out of the trany when we took off the valve body off in up side down. Should have bought the service manual before we did the upgrade. :( Reverse is now toast. $1,200 to fix.

Thanks for the help guys.

Pete
