At the beginning of our weekend trip all the trailer lights were working poperly. 2006 4WD 2500 SRW Automatic Mega Cab, 2005 Titanium 25/30 5th wheel,14,000 miles on the truck.

On leaving for home we discovered the trailer rt turn/ stop lamp didn't light. Netiher the 7 pin nor the 4 pin socket on the back of the truck had power for the right turn/ stop lamp.

Is this something that I should expect the dealer to fix under warranty, or might I be opening a can of worms? I have not modified any wiring. The only modification after new purchase was dealer installed Jacobs exhaust brake.

I had the same problem recently on my '05, and after checking bulbs and the usual culprits, I finally narrowed it down to a blown fuse, #47, I think. replaced the fuse and been fine since (about 3 months). Hope that helps. Bruce

I'd add to BimmerAgent's comment..... once you replace the fuse... . look for a grounded wire..... in your trailer... . I'm guessing that when you plugged in the circuit. . and powered it up..... you blew the fuse... . and you've got a grounded wire in the trailer... .

Hope this helps...

BTW... remember that each of the trailer connector functions are fused seperately from the rear of the truck.....

Can't find fuses

Thanks for the advice. I looked in the owners manual to try to find fuses for the trailer connections. The only fuse location mentioned is the integrated power module under the hood, near the battery. I found two fuses that the lable said were having to do with the trailer wiring. They both ckecked OK with an ohm meter.

Is there another location for the fuses that may be causing my problem?

Yup! Sure did. I removed each fuse and confirmed that there was no resistance between the legs of the fuse.

When our trunsignal and brake lights on the trailer were not working it turned out to be a defective turn signal switch in the truck.
