No run after rebuild.

2004.5. No voltage to lift pump, accelerator not functioning. Got engine to run by jumping power to lift pump and accelerator does not work. FSM says that ECM must be relearned after being removed and reinstalled, "see installation procedure". Installation procedure makes no mention of a relearn. ???

TC called me be3fore I was going to wake him up on Sunday morning. Went through all of the common problems that could cause this. I was unaware that my truck had been converted, I knew it had an in tank pump, but thought it had come that way. The fuel pump relay had been added on with a lead attached to the battery. I had removed all unknown leads from battery figuring they were for old trailer lights and brakes which I'm replacing from scratch so that I know what's there and that it's been done correctly. One of those leads was to the fuel pump relay. And after I located that one I discovered that its fuse was blown so it got a new fuse and fuse holder. After that turned key and heard pump run. Engine started immediately, and accelerator now functions.

The FSM was not designed to help repair modifications someone made to existing wiring. I don't recall ever having to relearn a PCM after it was removed.
