a friend of mine has a 95 auto that we recently installed a tst #5 plate in. we set with the guide, and had the afc all the way forward, and the star wheel all the way loose. we took it for a ride and there was a little bit of a difference. we took everything back apart and moved the fuel plate all the way forward, left the afc housing forward, and the star wheel loose. there was a little more performance but nothing great. it doesnt blow any black smoke. the truck is stock other than the fuel plate and a k and n. we also set the set the boost elbow all the way closed and it doesnt go above 24 psi. it seems that the truck is not getting fuel. the fuel filter is brand new also. i was wondering if it could be the governor lever. if anyone else thinks so how do we adjust it. is it under the afc on the side of the pump or on the back where the firewall is?

It very well could be the lever. Check to see if it is hitting by taking the AFC housing off and raise up the fuel shutoff solenoid manually and push the throttle cable forward some. You can look down into the pump and the lever will come forward as you push the throttle cable forward. It should just hit at the bottom of the start of the plate profile.

If you need to adjust it go to the Piers website for a visual description, but it is located at the back of the pump and has about a 1"x1" cover over the opening for the adjustment. I have never attempted an adjustment as I have never needed one, but I hear it is simple for some people and hard for others due to it's location. Good luck! :)

Could also be the overflow valve, if its never been checked/changed. Could be letting too much fuel thru without pressure to the pump. i think the spring measurement is around . 5" . Gov lever is also possible, yes...

sucks

We have the exact same problem, a 95 with tht plate foward and the afc housing all the way forward and still not black smoke or power... . until it goes into over drive and locks up the converter then it is 34 lbs boost and black smoke... Why not in first, secound and third??? Boost is 22 in ifrst 24 in secound and 3rd. and 34 in OD? What is going on here... no black smoke until it shifts into OD.

The Stock Converter Is Junk And Wont Stall Early . Heres The Math . Slushy Converter = No Load = No Boost = No Fuel . With Load Like When The Converter Hits The Lock Up Boost And Fuel Snow Ball = Power . My 2c Mjs

Plate forward and afc housing back did you try that? Because I was told to put the afc housing back. My afc housing is in the center and it works and

I have no trouble fueling. Hope this works.

Take the afc off for a test drive. It should smoke like a forest fire and haul butt. If that happens you have a problem with the afc, most probably a cracked or broken hose.
