Archived no start 2000 intermittant problem

I have a 2000 ram 4wheel drive auto that has recently started to not want to start all the time. turn the key nothing all accesories turn off as they should no click from starter good lights no dip when you try to start tried to start in neutral also no good when it happened before repeatedly turning key would work not this time. truck has done this before started doing it more often recently where do i begin. truck is at home so can check anything . thank you in advance for your help

Have you checked/upgraded your starter contacts? Very possible they are burnt out. Only other possibilities would be the neutral safety switch or a bad ignition switch. You dont want to have the starter stick, very bad stuff.

chuckgrif what tp0d said and to rule out starter you can by-pass starter relay by pulling it,finding hot female terminal and using house wire (solid with insulation), put one end on hot terminal and the other end in opposite terminal to see if starter will turn over. (

If it does work backward to igniton switch (terminals tight,starter relay working, neutral safety switch, ignition switch, and for loose connections or broken wires).

Also if starter does turn you turn key to "run" position and start engine.



If doesn't work look at starter solenoid contacts, I have changed out my battery one twice in 14 years.
