Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) No Start Questions

1999 24V 130 k 2 batteries 7 yrs old from Cosco first time the old boy would not start 12. 2 V dead jumped truck 14. 2 running and 13. 2 shut off . Are the batteries bad or the alternator. My money says one of the batteries is bad. HELP

Since the battery voltage came up when running, your alternator should be good. Seven year old batteries are at their age limit. Soon, they could short internally, then there is no jump start help.

Yep I change them every 7 years and was going to do them soon but now sooner than later. Thanks for the second opinion. TDR rules

I actually managed to get 11 years out of my OEM batteries before they went tango uniform in a bad way. Fine in the morning going to work, dead when I got off. 5 minuets into the drive home my alternator went schitzo. would jump to 18v, for a few minuets then no charge at all. New batteries and all is well again.
