i am working on a 92 w250 the wiring harnes for the engine shorted out and some the of the wires melted and became a molten mass of wire and plastic i spliced the wires and it started but wouldnt charge so had the alternator tested and its working fine putting out 15 volts . i put the alternator back on and the truck wont start checked all the fusible links for continuity with my tester and they are fine . all the grounds are fine . could the pcm be fried does it have anything to with the starting system as far as the starter goes?

ya i should of asked that dummy me i have three 1st gens and dident even think of it hope the best you came to the right place lots of knowledge here

If nothing electrical has any power, then unless there are several faults, the problem has to be near the battery, or the group of fusible links going into the cab.

I lost all power in my truck, and it turned out to be a tight, but not electrically connecting negative terminal.

Mine didn't charge after jump with a welder. It started and ran though. The ecm is also the voltage regulator. After changing same, charging was normal again.
