wife drove it and parked in driveway, when I went to move it, no start. 42k miles and the dealer replace the injection pump and installed an IN TANK lift pump. Last week I noticed the pressure was low, about 5 psi. It never had more than 7 with the new pump and the same gauge I had before. I'm afraid the pump has died, still showing 1/8 th fuel tank level. Darn we have put less than 3k miles since the new pump was installed.

should I drop the tank or is there an easier way to check; where is a good spot to trace the wire from the ECM to the pump?

did not check for codes because it happened the night before a 2 week vacation in Yosemite. Figgured I would check replies from my laptop while on vacation so I would know what to do when we return home.

I had 2 injection pumps replaced under warrenty as well as having an in-tank fuel pump installed. The PSI conditions you described above were exactly the same as my experience. Also with very little throttle it was very easy to bring the PSI drop to Zero.

Truck Was and IS Totally Stock with respects to performance upgrades.

In an attempt to avoid purchasing another injection pump (on MY Dime), I purchased a Fass HPFP. Now pressure Never drops below 13 PSI.

Check for codes. I have replaced many a VP due to the "In Tank" transfer pump fix is not a fix. If anything have the dealer put the OEM pump on in addition to the in tank pump. Mopar is full of it when they say the "flow" is within specs for the pump. Bosch says "10 psi minimum fuel pressure at the inlet side" for the VP44 (not pre filter). This is given the static flow abilities of the OEM fuel lines.

If your VP died, dealer warranty I hope. Make them put both transfer pumps on.
