Archived No Steering! No Brakes! Hard to drive truck!

Vacuum/power steering/power brake pump -- Broke drive links between married pumps. Dealer wants $2200 for new set-up. After market doesn't seem to have? Can this be true? Anybody know a cheaper/better/faster alternative to the dealer?

I'd definitely check Oakland phone book at the library or other large ciy directories for junk yards and start calling around. This site has talked about chrysler dealers who discount parts, too. Jim Beck

a part you could use.

Thanks for all the response! I checked with the Rancho Cordova recycler and they had the part for $375. 00 so I headed down there (about a 7 hour round trip in the "auxiliary" truck -- an '82 Isuzu diesel P'up, slow but still moving after 260k + miles).



Will install vacuum/steering pump and hopefully its a winner. Will let you know.

Perhpas you might put a new seal in the used pump prior to installing it, would be more fun that doing it again in 6 months.

A search of this site will get you the CR seal #, PM me if you like, I have some hear and could get the number for you.

Got it all installed, going to flush the hydraulics in the morning, then hook up and test drive. Thanks for all the suggestions, sorry I didn't get the seal suggestion in time. The seal looked ok ... hope it is!
