I did a 3 gauge overhead with SPA's last time and this time went with the ISSPRO's and found they are much more heavy giving me concern on the mounting so. .

I added a Simpson tie brace from a local hardware store to the pod. I only made the one bend and bolted it to the pod. I laid the strap in at an angle mounting it between the 2 & 3 gauge so the other end of the strap ends up in the center.

I drilled and used sheet metal screws to secure the pods strap through the black plastic trim and into a roof structure piece. The black wire is my gauges ground for the lighting circuit. This mod is so strong I didn't even use the Velcro but did stick it on the pod side just so there was added cushion against the glass, I just never peeled off the glass side sticky.

With the pods upper tabs wedged up over the steel ledge next to the glass AND the Simpson tie strap it is very strong.

Mopar interior paint is a good match.

nice install!!! That rearview mirror would comptely block my view out the window, I bet I would loose a house in that thing, Thats one thing I noticed on the 3rd gens is the rear view mirror is so much lower than on my 02, its something I will have to move when I get a new '06

how do you get the over head off ,i worked half the day using velcro got po and quit, then saw your post big dawg - 06 3500 drw 4x4 red loaded ,srt pod auto meter etg. 04,32` cardinal fw

The overhead comes off with 2 screws mounted behind the light lenses. Carefully pry them off with a screwdriver. CAREFULLY!

Matt, I don't really like the overhead pod because of the wiring issues (my overhead is already very crowded with wiring), but yours looks really nice! I might just get one and figure a way to simplify the wiring going to it.

Yes, what Ryan said. Slip a small flat blade screwdriver in along side the map light lens where it pivots and pry to the side and down. You will find a torx head screw, #20 I think under each lens. remove those 2 and then pull the over head straight down. There are 2 snap clips in the front so just pull down.

Ryan... I have a two hole pod but one of them is a dual boost/egt gauge. The wiring is a little tight behind the meters, but you can push all the wires and boost tube back under the headliner. I brought all the gauge wiring and boost tube from the left, along with the auto dim mirror wiring (after market), and all the fused power wires and ground from the right (up from the "painless wiring kit" from Geno's. It all fits in there. I did use my own epoxy glue to glue my own heavy duty velcro to the window and the pod. The stock stuff just wasn't heavy enough and it came off the first time I tried to reposition the pod... . ;)

Im glad to see this post,I havnt even got my 06 yet,but i have been looking at this set up and wondering how much of a pain it is.

Only concern now is does it get in the way with vision?

NICE INSTALL

My first pod was the SRT-10 A pillar with a dual gauge and it was nice and clean for just 2 gauges. If I drove a stick I would use that. It being only one gauge though is more distracting IMO than the 3 in the overhead both day and night.

The overhead I noticed so far needs the dash lamps dimmed just a tad for night time so its not a distraction while looking in the mirror, turn it up in the day if the lights are on or the gauges are hard to see.

Overall I like it and would do it again but would consider the new gauges

with led lighting.

It really doesn't affect your vision as there is already an anti glare (?) coating above the mirror that you can't really see through.

If you are "half way handy" and take your time, this is not that difficult an installation. If you have "very little clue" as to what you are doing, find someone who does, of have it done for you.

Here are a couple of things that might help to get the project done.

1. Try to use both sides of the headliner, at the top of the window, to run gauge wiring and power/ground. The right side lends itself to power/ground wires, especially if you use the "painless wiring kit" from Geno's. The fuse box of the kit can be installed behind the removable access panel on the dash between the door and the dash. It just pops off (careful not to scratch the plastic if you take it off using a screw driver to pry).

2. All the Gauge wiring and the boost tube will fit on the left side. All the wires come through your firewall and go up behind the "A" pillar cover. Once you have all the wiring done, it will help if you use small wire ties (the nylon zip ones) to bundle all the wiring together into a neat cable. This will also help it to stay put when you cram it up into the headliner.

Have fun... ;)

Do not like you will need to take your eyes off the road to look up to read them. The dash for me. I have the pillar and do not like it.
