NO SWAY BAR--what's up with that, getting real close to ordering my 3500, DRW,4x4---doing my research before contacting Tommygun!!

I can not believe that these trucks do not have sway bars--Am I wrong--please prove me wrong---also, what happened to the OFF ROAD package??

thanks, Rocky

Since the 2003's came out there are no rear sway bars on any of the trucks. I think there are aftermarket ones now, but I don't know. I am setting up to pull heavy, and all the feedback I've gotten from those who do, say the bars aren't needed.

My opinion, that's all.

BTW, this thing corners better than the mustang GT rental car I have this week!

Dang--this will be my first (real) Dodge--I use to brag about the Dodge packages--like if you got the trailer tow --you got a bunch of stuff included---the Fords, you had to order each little thing--but at least you could get it!!

I guess it's like the rear wheel liners,--a little here, a little there!!! It seemed like the CAMPER Package, had a bunch of good stuff--but it appears gone also---and what happened to the OFF ROAD package, they use to have??? thanks,R

I added the Helwig rear sway bar to my '03 and the difference is night and day in the twisting mountain freeways around here!

4000# slide in camper and way LESS sway than the 2nd gen with a sway bar.

The Hellwig anti-sway bars are available for the '03-'05 Dodge 3500 4x4 and 4x2. Check them out at:

I installed the Hellwig anti-sway bar on my truck, which is an easy no drill job. As others have posted, the difference is amazing hauling my heavy slide-in camper or driving the truck unloaded. My "03 3500 DRW handles the slide-in camer much better than the '00 3500 DRW I owned previously with the factory anti-sway bar.

many thanks to all the reply's--yes we are going to haul heavy with a 11 1/2' slide in camper, pulling a 18' car hauler (off road buggy) jest trying to order all the good stuff, and not leave something off--that may be needed, Rocky

The hydro-formed frame stiffened up the truck enough where the rear sway bar is no longer needed.

That's BS... I had an '01 and now and '03. Same camper and the '03 definatley needed the anti-swaybar. I added an aftermarket piece and it helped considerably. Dodge just tried to save some $$$.

Do you know what part number fits my 3500 dually 4x4? I called Hellwig, and they gave me a Summit part number for a Jeep Liberty. And I can't find the specific pn for my truck.

Thanks

Dodges reason for not installing a rear sway bar is because the rear leafs were lengthened about 6" which greatly increased the leverage needed for the truck to sway. Judging by how it handles over the previous models, I believe them. However, if your going to load up a top heavy item like a camper, You'll benifit from an after market sway bar.

yes let us know the part #---and yes I believe Dodge is just saving money--kinda like the rear wheel liners!!

I also went from 02 2500 to 04. 5 3500 drw and the difference is night and day the dually doesn't need the bar with 4k basement model camper I'm 12'6" high and I've got 3500 miles almost all with camper and I haven't even scared myself yet- lots of backroad and mountains too. just my 2cents
