Archived no tach and no charge help!!!!!

sunday i lost the tach and all charging for a few seconds then it came back.

yesterday it did it a few times and today they stoped all together.



i have cleaned every ground under the hood and all comp connections.



any other thoughts?

I am going to guess that it is a 94 to 98 1/2 12v truck that means that you either have a problem with your tach sensor or your PCM. If you loose the tach sensor the PCM will stop the charging system from working. I would check the tach sensor gap it is suposted to be . 060 then ohm out the sensor and check with the local dealer to see if it is in spec or if they have a "test pcm" to swap out and see if the tach and charging system starts to work. Those are a couple of steps to check.

If it were the crank sensor, your wait to start light probably dont work either. Unplug the crank sensor, if that is the problem the wait to start light will cycle. If you don't know, find the magnetic pickup on the harmonic balancer on the front of the engine, track the wires up to the plug next to the valve cover. If you have a 97 with a manual trans I have a PCM for sale cheap if you need it. If you have a 24 valve All of this might not apply.

its a 97

i filled out the sig and its not showin up



its a 97 quad auto



i took the sensor out and i cant get anything out of it w/ a ohm meter running it back and fourth on the crank or any other piece of steel.



any ideas on how to test it?

ohm meter 1k-10k setting should read open if low resistence replace.

i puled the old sensor out adn it was not working



new one will be in tomorow

i put the new sensor in on fri. and after a 600 mile trip no problems!!
