Hi guys, for the last year every time I start my 2006 2500, it fires right up and idles but the throttle pedal will not work for about 5 seconds. After that.....no problem, which is probably why I’ve taken so long to fix it....any ideas?

We need more information. When you say the throttle pedal doesn't work for 5 sec's, does that mean the engine does not respond to throttle input at all? Do you mean that the truck doesn't move after you put it in gear? Do you have a manual or an automatic transmission? How long does your truck sit between uses? Has there been any recent electrical or mechanical work done on it?

Hi Don, Okay....the engine does not respond to throttle pedal at all but the engine idles. It is a manual so if I let the clutch out in first gear, it moves correspondingly to the idle speed of the engine. I use the truck several times a day and this usually only happens on the first start of the day, whether it's 6 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon. If I drive for an hour, park for an hour and go to start it again, it usually doesn't happen again. I live in Florida so it being cold can't be the problem. I put a Edge Performance Juice with Attitude in last year but this has been going on since I bought the truck used, about 2 years ago. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Best regards, Rob

Rob, I had a thought about a possible problem and the cure, but since your truck has a manual transmission, my thought doesn't apply. Hopefully, someone with real knowledge will chime in here, 'cause I don't have much. Best of luck to you, I wish I could be useful.

My first thought is you have a temp sensor gone bad and the truck thinks it’s colder than it is, which limit rpms to protect the turbo.

Do you have any sort of OBDII monitor to check all the temp sensors?

You need decent scanner and have it connected to the ECM at that time to check if you have a throttle input to it or not.

I do have a scanner but I thought that would only help if
the check engine light was on. Also the Juice with Attitude also scans but no trouble codes come up.

You need to read data in real time.

Look at temp sensors and throttle position with Juice.

Sounds like my scanner might not be good enough. I'll have to look for a decent diesel mechanic. It has been going on for a while....a little annoying but not bad enough to warrant me taking it to the dealer or anything like that ( as you can tell by the date of the original post).

I'm not sure which version of the EJWA you have but I can see temp sensors and TPS with my Edge CTS2, so you might be able to just use that.
