Manufacturers are getting away from the blue tint strip at the top of the windshield. One of the reasons is, the steeper angles that most cars and trucks now use makes the strip more of an annoyance than a help. In order to be in the driver's normal sightline, it has to be much larger than the strip of a more uipright windshield.
It's also cheaper to just have a single glass tint (the normal light green/gray/brown of the front door glass) which cuts down on supplier and replacement costs. Quad cabs use the dark tint on the rear side windows for the same reason - make 'em all the same way and keep your costs down.
Personally, I can do without it. In the areas I drive, there are still plenty of older traffic lights that are on the near side of the intersection over the truck, and looking up through blue at it is a pain - same for some overhead signs that are poorly located (immediately after on ramps, around curves, etc. ). A good pair of sunglasses do the job much better if it's that bright out.
