Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) No Torque Plate???

A customer came into my friends diesel shop with a 97 12 valve auto and he was running NO torque plate. He said it runs good and has had no problems. He doesn't have a pyro so no egt # are known and he is getting similar fuel mileage as mine. A chart i seen recommended a #10 or 11 for my 97 5 Spd. Did anybody else do this and what are the possible problems?? I heard about sliding the stock plate full forward but completely removing it has me confused.

You have just opened a big can of worms this has been the subject of many long heated threads and post, you can probably do a search and find just about everything you want to know about moving or removing the cam plate. GOOD LUCK

As I recall this guy who defended removing his plate eventually had to replace his pump and admitted he was wrong. If you don't want to read the entire 21 pages the first and last couple will get you all the info you need.

FWIW, I run a torque plate (#0) in Sickly.
