05 CTD, 45,000mi Driving on interstate (pulling 6k trailer),re-fuel,pull out of truck stop to get on highway, loud pop/hiss in eng. compartment right side, no power and cannot hear turbo whine, idles and sounds fine, just no power!

took air intake off and turbo looks fine and can see it spin freely. We do hear a deep whistle/muffle from right side dash under load. Is it safe to drive to limp back home? Is this a possible bad waste gate. Any help is appreciated

hose popped off somewhere maybe [air intake horn, turbo outlet or CAC in/out pipes] charge air pipe drivers side cracked [some 06's had plastic piping there?]

if it is a bad wastegate you will be ok, but if it is an open hose or pipe, i would not drive it. the turbo can be overspeeded, and you can get unfiltered air into the engine

did u check your intercooler boot , you wont get any boost if it comes off, and when it comes off you will normally hear a pop. Hope it helps.

The 2005 models had plastic intercoolers which were know to crack... . Possible boot came off of intercooler... I wouldnt drive it like that could cost you your turbo... . Wes

Not sure about the '05, but I lost the flexible, slimsy section of hose right off of the compressor housing. I stopped at the Cummins shop right around Cuba, MO along I-44 and bought a piece of boost hose. It wasn't the flexible OE stuff, and was a pain to squeeze in there, but I doubt it blows again.

yea check all hose connections, if you do have a plastic charge air cooler, and it popped, i wouldn't drive it, could cause more problems than good, you will have no power, could hurt the turbo.
