2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission ABS & brake light

I was plugging a trailer in this morning in the howling snow and got it in the wrong spot. (the outer plastic part that only allows it to go into the socket one way is missing so it's anyone's guess how it goes. ) Anyway, I had my left blinker on when I plugged it in and it blinked once and quit. Now my brake lights, turn signals and flashers don't work on the truck, at all. The park brake light and ABS light were on for awhile until I shut the motor off and restarted and now they are off, but the others still don't work. All fuses are good still.

I did a search and found similar problems but nothing that listed plugging in a trailer as a precursor. Anyone else see this same problem?

I second Nicks suggestion. Look in the PDC under the hood. I don't know if there is a difference between the 01. 5 and 02 schematics, but using the 02 I would check Fuses 5 & 8 (in the BIG fuse section) and Fuse F (in the smaller section).

Are the license plate lights and back-up lights working?

I did the exact same thing last weekend in a nasty rain storm in a hurry with some elses trailer and a crappy plug,,,the itty bitty 20A fuse under the hood is blown.

All fuses are still good. I replaced the flasher switch with a trico EP27 and still no luck. I guess I break out the test light and start chasing ghosts... ... .

Any other ideas?

TIA

Never mind... ... I found it. It's the 20A J-Case or Pal type fuse. (Not sure the name)

I started swapping fuses and relays to see if I could come up with something and I did. Problem solved.

thanks guys

Glad you found the problem and it was a simple fix.

Yep - the BIG fuse - Female PAL type fuse.

Look anything like this?

Now someone should fix that defective plug on the trailer... ;)

That is the culprit. The trailer belongs to a friend and I will probably never need to pull it again. But if I do I'll spring for a new plug!
