Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) No Warning Ding?

Trucks been hard starting now for about 5 months with no dead pedal hard starts cold or hot, I'am just waiting for the VP to die. Now there is a new problem when you frist get in the truck and turn the key to the on position the wait to start light comes on but now the two dings stop. I checked the buzzer and it works but I was wondering if that could be related to the hard start problem. Any suggestions would be appricated.

Ive never had the chime since I bought mine used, until the other day I got in and started it to back it up about 10 feet. It chimed very low, and I havent heard it since. Wierd. . Must be some kinda dinger out to lunch problem.

My 98. 5 ocasionally does the same thing best i can figure is a connection from the key because once i start it it chimes a couple of times. like wise any info would be great. i have read where if the fuel pressure from the lift pump is more than 2 lbs at time of cranking it can be hard to start.
