Noise under load

When I haul a load up any grade, I hear a fairly loud rattle that sounds like where my fuel filter is located if I open the throttle much. Could this be a starved for fuel, fuel pump that is rattling due to my filter semi-plugged? I haven't changed it this year. I have a '96 DCTD 4x4 with 50 k miles on it. Thanks, Herb

Mine did that just recently..... then I noticed the whole underside of my truck was covered in fuel. The lift pump let go shortly after the rattle began. I figure all the oil (fuel) that got under the truck was my season's corrosion proofing, and laughed it off. The lift pump lasted 70K..... not bad #ad
