Noise when I turn

I hear a squeaking noise when I turn from the front end. Seems to be at wheel speed. I am thinking universals for the 4 WD. Any ideas? If you agree, has anyone done this before? Is it a mother or nottoo bad? Any special tools needed?

I would check wheel bearings first. Does it do it when turning in one or both directions?

Mine turned out to be the driver's side axle u-joint.

It happens when turning both directions.

I was wondering if it did come to u-joints, what tools will I need that are special?

What we found is that when you turn sharp... and the sound is a lump, lump, lump where it wants to pull the wheel... . that's been ujoints for us... when its a constant rattle in a turn its a bearing.....

The key to doing front u-joints is the need to remove the front bearings... and if you have those apart there is a thread on this board to remove the abs sensor and grease the bearings... .

We finally had to build a large puller to get the bearing housing out of the frame, and later we power wire brushed all the metal to metal contacts and used a lot of never seize when we put it back together... .

I posted to a thread for another TDR member and didn't have a photo of the 2WD hub he needed but posted the photo of the 4WD hub... if you wish the part number and a photo let me know as I have both... .
