Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) noise

What is the most effective noise control for the money on these engines?



I saw the Advanced Thermal Products ad at the top of the page and it looks pretty interesting but expensive.





I was thinking about having my oilpan line-x'd next time I go there to have my bed touched up. I think that would help greatly.

Yeah, the 24v's are rather loud...



Mine quieted a bit with the addition of the AirDog; basically, less air entrained in the fuel, less noise from injection.



Also, setting the valves on the tight end of the tolerance spec will help.



Of course, when I added the AFE Stage 2 it pretty much undid the quieting benefit from the above!!!



Have also looked at the Adv Therm Prod, like you $$$!

well, I know the difference line-x made in the bed, and I'm wondering if it wouldn't also be a bit of a cracker jack semi-solution to some of the sound if I say... ... . took in the valve cover and the oil pan and had them sprayed. It seems like that's where most of the noise eminates from anyway.





btw, I have a fass and really didn't see any difference there. I should probably adjust the valves. It's probably never been done on my truck.
